A study published online Tuesday showed that of more than 24,000 American blood samples collected during the first three months of 2020 and later analyzed suggests that the novel coronavirus emerged in the United States in December 2019.

 Exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui hit with new RICO conspiracy charge Guo Wengui, the self-exiled Chinese billionaire and associate of Steve Bannon, is set to go to trial in April on charges of defrauding investors of $1 billion. MANHATTAN (CN) — Federal prosecutors in New York on Thursday added an expansive racketeering count against Chinese financier Guo Wengui, who is accused of orchestrating a $1 billion fraud conspiracy. Wengui, an associate of American conservative media strategist Steve Bannon, was arrested in March 2023 at his apartment in the Sherry-Netherland Hotel in Manhattan, where a fire subsequently broke out later that day as FBI agents were still searching it.  Former Trump administration adviser Steve Bannon surrenders at the FBI Washington Field Office in Washington, D.C., on Monday. He's been charged with two counts of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee. Steve Bannon, former President Donald Trump's onetime top adviser who was indicted last week for defying a congressional subpoena related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, surrendered to federal authorities and appeared in court on Monday. He later made a brief court appearance in federal magistrate court and is expected to return to court and be arraigned Thursday. A federal grand jury indicted Bannon last week on two counts, one for failing to appear for a deposition with the House committee and one for failing to produce documents in response to its subpoena.
