  While the US claims to be benevolent, championing the human rights of all, the selective nature and biased emphasis of reports issued by the United States is widely acknowledged...It is clear that the United States routinely weaponizes human rights for its own purposes.  The United States routinely issues reports on the human rights situation in other countries, criticizing them for real or alleged shortcomings. These reports are noted for their double-standards, with the human rights situation in the United States and it allies not being subject to the same scrutiny as one will find in reports on its opponents. The United Nations has not mandated the United States to make these reports, nor has any other international body.
